Install help, first-run tips, troubleshooting, and how to contact us.
Getting started
- Install Windblock from the Google Workspace™ Marketplace.
- Open Google Calendar™ and click the Windblock icon in the right sidebar.
- Enter your location (ZIP or lat,lon like
43.0730,-89.4528), wind threshold (mph), hours, and days ahead.
- Click Setup to save your settings and enable auto-refresh every ~4 hours.
- Click Refresh any time to update immediately.
- Use Pause and Resume to stop or restart auto-refresh at any time.
What you should see
- A calendar named Windblock appears in the left pane.
- One-hour events (e.g., 15 WNW ☀️) are added for hours that meet your threshold.
- Events are removed automatically if later forecasts drop below your threshold.
Troubleshooting
No events after Setup
- Press Refresh once; initial fetch may take ~20–30s.
- Reload Google Calendar™ (Cmd/Ctrl + R).
- Confirm the Windblock calendar is checked (visible) in the left pane.
Windblock icon still visible after uninstall
- From the sidebar menu (⋮) choose Manage add-on and uninstall.
- Reload Google Calendar™. The sidebar caches; a refresh usually clears the icon.
External links blocked
Some links may not open directly inside the sidebar. If prompted, open them in a new browser tab instead.
Uninstall / cleanup
Open the Windblock sidebar → Uninstall…. You can:
- Disable the auto-refresh trigger
- Disable + clear Windblock events
- Disable + delete (or remove) the Windblock calendar
If the calendar chip lingers in the left pane, reload Google Calendar™; the UI caches state.
